"Thirty-Third Military Assault Command Operations Team "
(Formerly the 33rd STARFLEET Rangers.)
The STARFLEET Strategic Operations Rangers, also known as Rangers, were traditionally an elite light infantry force, whose specialties include reconnaissance, direct action, and raids upon, and seizures of, enemy-controlled bases and facilities.
The Thirty-Third Military Assault Command Operations Unit was formed (as the 33rd STARFLEET Rangers) on Stardate 0/0910.17. The first Team Leader was LTC Schugart, the Assistant Team Leader was BDR West, and other members included FCAPT Liz Goulet, 2LT Tank Clark, and 2LT Mike Tolleson. On Stardate 0/1304.16, BGN West and LTC Schugart stepped down as CO & XO of the USS Regulator, and left the ship. The newly elected Captain of the Regulator, Colonel Tank Clark, appointed Major Tolleson to be Team Leader of the 33rd Rangers. In early spring of 2012 (circa Stardate 0/1204), LTC Tolleson transferered to the USS Navras, and COL Clark assumed the role of Team Leader. At the ship's elections of Stardates 0/1304, 0/1504, and 0/1704 Brigadier (now Major General) Clark was re-elected to the leadership of what became the largest Ranger team in STARFLEET.
Our nickname is "The Paladins," both to honor the hero of the TV Western "Have Gun -- Will Travel" and to pay respects to the Captain of the USS Regulator when the team was formed, BDR Mark West, whose Mecha branch callsign was "Paladin."
Our Slogan is "Have Phaser, Will Travel" -- again referring to the above-mentioned TV Western.
The motto of the Thirty-Third Military Assault Command Operations Unit (formerly 33rd STARFLEET Rangers) is “Sum Non Satis?”, or “Am I Not Enough?” This is based on the story behind the famous (but apocryphal) Texas Ranger slogan, “One Riot, One Ranger.”
From Wikipedia:
A famous phrase associated with the Rangers is “One Riot, One Ranger”. It is somewhat apocryphal in that there was never actually a riot; rather, the phrase was coined by Ranger Captain William "Bill" McDonald, who was sent to Dallas in 1896 to prevent the illegal heavyweight prize fight between Pete Maher and Bob Fitzsimmons that had been organized by Dan Stuart and patronized by the eccentric "Hanging Judge" Roy Bean of Langtry, Texas. According to the story, McDonald's train was met by the mayor, who asked the single Ranger where the other lawmen were. McDonald is said to have replied: "Hell! Ain't I enough? There's only one prize-fight!"
