Ship's General Meeting
Shady Oak BBQ, Fort Worth, TX 1500 Hrs 27 Oct 2018 The brave crew of the USS Sea Tiger met once more for food, friendship, and fellowship. In attendance were Liz, Alan, and Michelle Goulet, as well as Tank and Tracy Clark. We discussed at length the new SFMC/SMACO rank insignia, as well as some upcoming movies that we're anticipating. The Clark's are the only ones in the ship who have watched Discovery, so discussion of the upcoming season was mixed. We highly anticipate the second season of the Orville, however. There was a second in-meeting announcement regarding the open Gold and Red Division Leader positions. Meetings for the next two months have been rescheduled around the holidays: November's meeting will be on the 17th, and December's on the 15th of that month. This will allow more time for us to spend with our families. Recruitment remains a growing concern. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out.

Third Brigade Overnight aboard USS Texas BB-35 The 333rd sent a representative -- me -- to the semi-annual overnight program aboard the Battleship Texas. 43 people attended, representing STARFLEET, the STARFLEET Marines, the Klingon Assault Group (KAG), and The Royal Mantacoran Navy (as well as the Grayson Space Navy and the Royal Mantacoran Army, both parts of TRMN). I departed home around 1000 hours Friday 28 Sep (Stardate 11809.28) and arrived in good order at the Clarion Inn on I-10 in Houston in the late afternoon. Traffic on some of the Houston area highways was horrible. I ate dinner (Subway's), watched some TV, did some reading, and watched a bit of TV. I slept well enough, and stayed in bed late, not rising until after 0930. I proceeded to the restaurant at which we were to all meet, "Backdraft BBQ," arriving about 1300. A period of socializing and eating followed. We all left the restaurant around 1600 to meet at the ship, and do the various in-processing procedures. We boarded around 1700, and -- after raiding the Third Brigade's flag as well as that of the Royal Mantacoran Army unit in attendance, we commenced our tour. We heard great stories about the USS Texas, and went into spaces on Texas that I'd never been -- up and down ladders and through hatches that the average person never gets to see -- and ended our tour exhausted, thirsty, sweaty, and happy to sit down. The rest of the evening was spent enjoying camaraderie. I personally didn't hit my rack until around 0100 Sunday morning. Reveille was at 0630, with breakfast at 0700 and the raising of the Ensign at 0800. We took advantage of the photo opportunity, and -- after going ashore to store our gear in our vehicles -- spent too much money at the gift shop. After saying my goodbyes, I departed in my vehicle and returned home, arriving around 1500 hours, exhausted and hungry. Next year, the Region plans to visit NASA; the year after that may prompt a return to the USS Texas. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. |
