Landing Party: Wise County Heritage Museum, Decatur, TX
The USS Sea Tiger sent a party to explore the WCHM. The building, constructed in 1892, initially served as a four-year college, the Decatur Baptist College. It currently holds diverse items from Wise County's past: furniture, artwork, military uniforms, a horse-drawn hearse, and many, many other displays, including genealogical records and newspaper archives. Lt Col Roon Marchant, CDR Tracy Clark, and MGen Tank Clark spent a few hours exploring the museum before going out to lunch at Casa Torres, the best Mexican restaurant in Wise County. Region 3 Summit, Third Brigade Muster
The USS Sea Tiger once again has been honored by the Region and the Brigade. During the General Session, Sea Tiger was presented with the 2020 Zenith Award (Print Media), for outstanding Newsletter ("The Monthly Roar"). In the Marine Muster, members of the 333rd Military Intelligence Group (our Marine unit) were presented with a wide variety of awards:
Bravo Zulu! Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out Ship's Meeting Shady Oak BBQ, Fort Worth, TX The courteous crew of the Starship Sea Tiger joined together in friendship, fellowship, and food-consumption at our regular meeting place, Shady Oak BBQ in Fort Worth. In attendance this month were Tank Clark, Elizabeth Goulet, Tracy Clark, Scott Cornatzer, Michelle Goulet, Roon Marchant, and Daniel Roe. We discussed the upcoming Region 3 online Summit/ 3BDEMuster on 10 July, and everyone is encouraged to be there -- although we also have a table with our KAG sister-ship, IKV SuvwI'ta', at my favorite comic book store, Sci-Fi Factory (Lake Worth) on that same day. The upcoming SFDPP recertification (starting in August) lead us to a rather whine-filled part of the conversation; everyone understands, though, and will comply when possible. An unexpected but welcome award issued to the entire crew of Sea Tiger was the new Order of P'Jem, for "continued dedication of service and perseverance in the face of the Global Covid-19 Pandemic." Our crew barely skipped a beat during this last year. We are pleased that local conventions will be starting up again, and eagerlyanticipate working with the USS Battle Born at FenCon in September. Plans also continue for a Landing Party at the Wise County (Texas) Historical Museum in Decatur on July 17th, the next Klingon Good Day to Dine with IKV SuvwI'ta', and USS Diamondback on July 31st, and long-range plans continue for other stuff (30th Anniversary, hosting a summit in a few years, etc.) as mentioned in previous Captain's Blog entries. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. Ship's Meeting 0/2105.22 (22 May 2021) Shady Oak BBQ, Ft Worth, TX The friendly crew of the USS Sea Tiger met again for fun, fellowship, and great food. In attendance today was MGN Tank Clark, RADM Liz Goulet, CDR Tracy Clark, CDR Scott Cornatzer, LTC Roon Marchant, MGSgt Alan Goulet, MCPO Michelle Goulet, and local member Perry Brulotte. Also joining us was Vino Silmon, a member of our KAG sister-ship (IKV SuvwI'ta'). The crew were reminded again about the region's online Summit/3BDE Muster on 0/2107.10 (10 July 2021), as well as the upcoming Good Day to Dine at New York Hill Restaurant in Thurber, TX. Members of at least three ships should be there (USS Sea Tiger, IKV SuvwI'ta', USS Diamondback), exploring the 'ghost town' before rendezvousing at the restaurant at 1630 hours. We briefly discussed some of the activities from earlier in the month (the Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games, Scarborough Renaissance Faire) as well as some activities we are looking forward to doing (a trip to the Artillery Museum in St. Jo., a visit to the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur, and a trip to the Fort Worth Military Museum in Fort Worth). I have assumed the role of Acting Third Brigade OIC, and I applied for the position on a more permanent basis. I believe I could perform well in that job, and I look forward to the challenge. Early planning continues on both 2022's 30th Anniversary celebration of our chapter's commissioning and the "Imperial Summit" concept for 2026's Region 3 Summit (assuming we'll be meeting in-person by that time!) Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. Ship's meeting 0/2104.24 (24 April 2021) 1500hrs Shady Oak BBQ, Fort Worth The helpful crew of USS Sea Tiger gathered together to enjoy companionship, to discuss events and goings-on at other echelon levels of STARFLEET, STARFLEET Marine Corps, and MACO, and to work on future events and activities. In attendance were MGN Tank Clark, RADM Liz Goulet, CDR Tracy Clark, MGySgt Alan Goulet, LTC Roon Marchant, 1LT Ricky Morrison, CDR Perry Brulotte (a local member), and Maj. Daniel Roe. The crew is being urged to attend the online muster and summit in June. Unfortunately, this is somewhat of a hard sell, as the members seem to enjoy the live personal interactions at Regional and Brigade more than (as I was told) "sitting and listening to people on the computer." The situation is what it is, and there's nothing to be done about it. Some of us have also made other plans, as we had already scheduled time off from work to attend the summit and didn't want that vacation time to go to waste. (I immediately made plans to visit a museum ship that I haven't yet visited: the USS Razorback, a Balao-class submarine open for visitors in Little Rock, Arkansas.) May is shaping up to be a very busy month: we're attending the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Decatur, TX on 01 May, we're joining our Klingon sister ship (IKV SuvwI'ta' of KAG) on their excursion to Scarborough Faire on 08 May. On the 15th is the USS Diamondback's/3BDE campout near Hico, TX. Our next ship's meeting is on the 22nd, and on the 29th we'll journey to Thurber, TX to participate in the Lone Star Warrior's Association's Klingon Good Day to Dine at the New York Hill Restaurant. Early actions for our chapter's 30th year anniversary event are being taken, and wonderful ideas have been circulated. We need to determine what sort of interest ships and organizations from across the region may have in attending, so we have a good idea on how big to make this thing. Some of the ideas offered may also be recirculated for a future Summit/Muster. The first chance for the Sea Tiger to host a summit will be in 2026 -- assuming there won't be further postponements/cancellations. We remain optimistic and as active as we can be. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. Ship's Meeting, March 27, 2021, 1500 hrs Patriotic Pig The loyal crew of the USS Sea Tiger once more gathered for friendship, fellowship, and tasty barbeque. In attendance were MGen Tank Clark, RAdm Liz Goulet, CDR Tracy Clark, LTC Roon Marchant, MGySgt Alan Goulet, and MCPO Michelle Goulet. (Maj. Daniel was with the Tx State Guard this weekend.) There were two main points of conversation; Conversation focused primarily on upcoming activities, and that focused on cancelled events. First, the cancellation of the 2021 Region 3 summit and Third Brigade Muster disappointed everyone on the ship. The reasons for the cancellation were explained, and it's understandable that the summit hosts and the region/brigade staffs were cautious about trying to get a large number of people together. However, it is very disappointing, and as it now makes two years without a summit, this officer tends to wonder if there will ever again be a physical summit. The Sea Tiger crew will wait and see, but we are crestfallen regarding this situation. Unfortunately, it has almost completely removed any enthusiasm for the (so far, still scheduled) Region 3 NASA trip in September. On the other hand, as more places locally are returning to a more normal business structure, the Sea Tiger is excited to return to our normal meeting location, Shady Oak BBQ. The Patriotic Pig is nice, but the service, atmosphere, and greater selection available at Shady Oak is something we have been looking forward to enjoying since the COVID-19 restrictions began. This officer is excited to return there beginning next month. We're still working on logistics for the ship's Color Guard team, and we only lack a few items. All four members of the team (currently) are members of both our STARFLEET Marines and our MACOs. By odd coincidence, the team members are also members of the local KAG ship, the IKV SuvwI'ta'. Plans are underway for a few exciting landing parties: a trip to the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur, TX, a trip to the Artillery museum in St. Jo, TX (when it reopens) -- which will probably include a picnic in a nearby town, and a trip to participate in Jared's Epic Nerf Battle (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jareds-epic-nerf-battle-6-tickets-112730540080?fbclid=IwAR3S5qwAMGLF5MMTuaBt10fDFv-c-5PFY1ptMrrfvzkKA7RrjeuLiRRAweY) in Arlington, TX. This is in addition to the Marine unit's excursion to Omaha's Military Surplus Store in Fort Worth, video game play at Electric Starship earning points in the Third Brigade's Field Training Exercise (FTX) program, and other activities. Plans also continue -- albeit a bit long-range -- for the 30th anniversary of our chapter's commissioning, in Oct 2022. Sea Tiger remains an active, fun-loving ship with an awesome, excited crew. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. Ship's Meeting 1500hrs 27 Feb 21 Patriotic Pig, North Richland Hills, TX As usual, the trustworthy crew of the USS Sea Tiger gathered at The Patriotic Pig for great barbeque, great companionship, and fun-filled conversation. In attendance this month: MGN Tank Clark, RADM Liz Goulet, CDR Tracy Clark, MCPO Alan Goulet, LTC Roon Marchant, and MAJ Daniel Roe. Some of the topics of conversation included:
Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. Ship's Meeting Patriotic Pig, North Richland Hills, TX 1500 hours Once again the plucky crew of the worlds-famous USS Sea Tiger joined together to enjoy food, friendship, and fun at the Patriotic Pig. In attendance at this meeting were RADM Tank Clark, CDR Tracy Clark, RADM Liz Goulet, MCPO Alan Goulet, MCPO Michelle Goulet, and LTC Roon Marchant. Everyone present paid their dues -- $2.00 -- for the year. Discussion included the upcoming Good Day to Dine (GDtD), the scheduled dates for this year's meetings & GDtDs, and we reviewed the fact that the next scheduled Vote of Confidence for the Captain, First Officer, Division Officers (red, blue, gold), and group leaders (MACO, Marines, and Klingons) will be in February 2022 (every even-numbered year, per Section 6.02 of the Ship's Articles. We also discussed possible Landing Parties, including one to the Wise County Heritage Museum and one to the Stockyards Museum at the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Third Brigade has called for a possible new logo design; I have submitted one each, for both the standard Trek universe and the Mirror Universe, and I have encouraged other Marines to do so, as well. We have purchased two 1903 Springfield replica parade rifles to use in color guards and color guard training. We have many of the flags we would want to use, and we're preparing to get poles and stands. The Third Brigade's Field Training Exercise (FTX) program (see ftx.3bde.org) is under way, and we have Marines who are participating. One hopes that more of our Marines will join in the fun soon. STARFLEET MACO has changed back to STARFLEET Special Operations (SFSO), with MACO becoming a division thereof. Our team, the Thirty-Third Military Assault Command Operations Team ("Paladins") will remain a fully MACO team and will follow the Gamma path. I have been informed that I will be placed in overall command of STARFLEET MACO, whilst remaining Deputy Commander of the revised SFSO organization. As mentioned above, the Klingons are participating in the Lone Star Warrior Association's Good Day to Dine, along with members of the IKV SuvwI'ta' and the USS Diamondback. This will be a noteworthy projection of power for Sea Tiger, as the location is in Eastland, TX -- about two hours' drive away. Sea Tiger rarely sends landing parties so far, except to well-established events like Region 3 Summit, Third Brigade Muster, and STARFLEET International Conferences. There is a new organization starting up within STARFLEET. This will be called STARFLEET Intelligence, and the charter is being developed even now. I am a member, and I am encouraging the whole crew of the Sea Tiger to consider joining it as well. As a former USN Intelligence Specialist and as the driving force for the 333rd Military Intelligence Group (our STARFLEET Marine unit), it is hoped that this will fall right into my wheelhouse. Finally, we discussed some thoughts for how we want to celebrate our upcoming 30th chapter anniversary (on 10 Oct 2022). Ideas include holding a ball, doing a dress mess, or even hosting a mini-convention. Submitted logo for 3BDE (above) Sketch idea for STARFLEET Intelligence (above)
The indominable crew of the starship Sea Tiger met for holiday fun in the quarters of Major Danial Roe. This year, we celebrated a very laid-back Klingon Dinner Thing complete with tasty food, enjoyable beverages, and great conversation! We even managed to watch a couple of episodes of Lower Decks before the Ferengi Gift Exchange began. In attendance were Major Roe (our host); MGen. Tank Clark and CMDR Tracy Clark (cleverly disguised as KAGs' LTJG Klark tai-Klark and LTJG Kalamity tai-Klark of the IKV SuvwI'ta'), 1LT Ricky Morrison, RADM Liz Goulet, and MCPOs Alan Goulet and Michelle Goulet. The Ferengi Gift Exchange was a lot of fun (as usual), and I believe everyone was happy with the gift they ended the party with. A brief business meeting discussed the SuvwI'ta's scheduled landing party on 0/2012.12 in Fort Worth's Stockyards, to examine the Stockyard Museum, as well as the next Sea Tiger meeting on 0/2101.23 at the Patriotic Pig. Additionally, we discussed getting drill rifles for a future color guard unit and also to be used for drill training of other 3BDE/Region 3 color guards, the Lone Star Warriors' Association's next Good Day to Dine (0/2101.30, Circle M BBQ, Eastland, TX), the Third Brigade's new Field Training Exercise (FTX) program, and a nearby classic video game arcade. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. Ship's Meeting 24 Oct 2020, 1100 hours The ship celebrated its 28th anniversary (we were commissioned -- as the USS Comanche -- on Oct 1, 1992) by sending a Landing Party to SeaQuest Fort Worth, at Ridgemar Mall. The party consisted of MGN Tank Clark, RADM Liz Goulet, CDR Tracy Clark, LTC Roon Marchant, MCPO Alan Goulet, and MCPO Michelle Goulet.. SeaQuest is an interactive aquarium with all sorts of fish -- including sharks and stingrays -- with lots of other animals thrown into the bargain: sloths, otters, chickens and other birds, tortoises, and even pigs! COVID limited the number of people who were allowed inside, but once there we were able to feed and/or pet many of the critters. There were even some folk standing in the stingray tank, feeding them by hand! It was a lot of fun, and we are looking forward to our next adventure! The ship will skip the November meeting (as our meeting day falls two days after Thanksgiving), but plans to have our December meeting early, on the 5th. It will be a Klingon Dinner Thing/Ferengi Gift Exchange held at Major Roe's house, starting at noon. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out. |
