The regular schedule of crew meetings for the USS Sea Tiger was interrupted when we sent a team to Muenster, TX for Germanfest. Unfortunately, most of our crew were unable to attend due to various issues. Our Captain (RADM Tank Clark) and the Chief Medical Officer (CDR Tracy Clark) managed to go, and enjoyed themselves immensely. The drive to Muenster wasn't too long, although we encountered the outbound cyclists participating in the Germanfest bicycle race. As they were in the other lane, it didn't totally impede our progress; it did, however, slow us considerably.
Tank was in Lederhosen, and was therefore admitted with no fee -- a pleasant surprise. Most of the day was spent wandering the grounds, shopping at the booths, and listening to all sorts of music. We also watched some Shuheplattler and other traditional Bavarian dances. Whilst eating lunch (in my case, Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat, Rotkraut, und Sauerkraut), we talked with fellow festival attendees and drank a liter of wonderful bier (Weihenstephaner Korbinian). We continued to enjoy ourselves until around 5pm, and then went home. We're really looking forward to Oktoberfest later this year. On the 30th, we sent a team to the Good Day to Dine, at the Smokestack restaurant in Mingus, between Fort Worth and Abilene. Seventeen people, from IKV SuvwI'ta', USS Diamondback, and USS Sea Tiger, came together for fun, fellowship, and to "conquer" an unexpecting restaurant. Some members of the ship will get together again soon, on May 7, at the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Decatur, TX. Clark, commanding Sea Tiger, out.
